Sport Funding
Schools are awarded Sports Premium funding annually. This year we have been awarded £14,450. Schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer. At Stow on the Wold Primary School we use the funding to develop or add to the PE and sport activities that we already offer and to make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years. Examples of ways in which we have used our funding include:
- Use of qualified sports coaches to work alongside teachers to increase their skills and knowledge of PE
- Provide existing staff with training or resources to help them teach PE and sport more effectively
- Introduce new sports or activities and encourage more pupils to take up sport
- Support and involve the least active children by running or extending school sports clubs
- Run and /or take part in sport competitions
- Increase pupils’ participation in the School Games (recently awarded the prestigious Platinum Award)
- Run sports activities with other schools
