11/11/2019 - Remembrance activities

Remembrance Day activities

We marched on Remembrance Sunday from the square to church and then back to St Edwards hall afterward last weekend. I was delighted with the number of staff and children (and friends of the school) who turned out to represent us (and we noted that other pupils were also present as scouts and brownies)

Fin Heritage had the honour of being the first child to carry our brand new standard. Two children in Class 4 Jack and Ria laid our wreath and two children in Class 5 Jess Stubbs and Caleb Harvey read the names of the fallen (a very tricky job which they did admirably!) Children from Class one and Two Lydia and Hollie carried our poppy and Ollie Hicks had the job of keeping the huge flag under control.  Darcey and Maggie took up the collection, at very short notice and many of the children stayed for the whole service. Everyone will be awarded a bonus merit certificate and five team points for representing us so well. A big thank you to them all and to the staff who supported us on the day. A big thank you also to Mr Glazier for his lovely photos which I hope you will enjoy.

Remembrance Day

As a school we went to the memorial in the middle of the market square and we sang three songs- We will remember, pack up your trouble and It’s a long way to Tipperary. On this occasion Amelia carried the standard and I think the photo pf her with her grandad is really special (see above). I was very proud of the children and received a lovely letter from an old soldier saying thank you as well as other people thanking us on the day for the lovely singing. Even the Mayor Ben Eddolls commented on how well they had all sung, even the youngest children and they all behaved with the solemnity it deserved.

25/10/2019 - Pumpkin Competition

Pumpkin Competition

The pumpkins all look amazing and are displayed in the hall. The school council have been busy voting and the prizes will be awarded at our final celebration assembly on Friday.  After wards we would like to light the path to the disco with the pumpkins and will put electric tea lights in them (you are free to take them home afterwards or we can recycle them in our food waste andigestion bin)

07/06/2019 - All mended

I am very grateful to Mr Quiney and his whole family for their amazing hard work over several weeks replacing the decking outside Class 2 so that the children have a lovely safe new area to play on. They worked incredibly hard for many hours and it has saved the school a lot of valuable pennies!!

A big thank you to them all for their efforts which will be very much enjoyed by the children.
